Recipe for Blood Cockles
Blood cockles is one of my favorite food. When I am feeling down, a
plate of cockles and a bottle of tiger is all I need to cheer me up.
When I am happy, cockles and beer is a good way to celebrate.
One of my favorite way of preparing cockles is to marinate them with
dark soy sauce.Although it looks like a simple dish, there is still
quite a bit of work to prepare it. So today I share with you this
delicious way of preparing cockles.
Blood Cockles Recipe
1. Buy some fresh cockles from the supermarket.
2. Give it a good scrub to make sure that it is clean.
3. Chop some chili padi into small bits.
4. Finely chop some garlic
5. Set the water to boil
6. Once the water is boiling, dump all the cockles into the hot water
7. Immediately scoop them up
8. Open the cockles into half.
9. Add a dash of Chinese cooking wine.
10. Add in the garlic and chili padi.
11. Add in the dark soy sauce.
12. Mixed well and chill it.
13. Enjoy it!
The recipe is pretty simple though the scrubbing and opening of the
cockles require some work. Cooking the cockles is also not as easy as
it seems. Most people tend to overcook them.
The trick is to make sure the you have sufficient water and it is
boiling before putting in the cockles. Once the you in the cockles,
you must immediately scoop them up. If the water is hot enough, this
short moment is already adequate to cook the cockles and make them easy
for opening.
The cockles that were prepared this time round were really great. They
are wickedly disgusting but yet such a bloody delight! So do give this
